I wish I could take you along on a visit to a tribal village. The sights, the smells, the colours — the whole experience — can be overwhelming. And worshiping with believers from a previously unreached people group … well, that’s overwhelming in a completely different way.
I know our writers put a great deal of effort into telling compelling stories, and telling them well. And our designers work hard to help you picture it. I think they do a great job, and I hope you agree.
But there’s only so much you can put into a magazine. Apparently there are even technical reasons why we can’t put a video into a printed magazine, though they’ve tried to explain it to me three times and I still don’t understand it.
That’s one of the reasons I’m so glad we have an online version of the magazine (ethnos.ca/magazine) as well.
Online this month we have a video from the Dinangat tribe, and you can hear and see some of the missionaries and Dinangats talk about the transforming effects of God’s message there. We also have short biographies of each of the missionaries on the team, so you can get to know them better.
It’s still not the same as being there. But I think the printed magazine and the online extras complement each other to give you a richer picture of the work God is doing among the Dinangat people of Papua New Guinea.
While you’re online, I encourage you to stop by the news section (ntm.org/news) to read about reaching tribes and transforming lives in other places, and the video page (ntm.org/videos) for video stories from around the world. Sometimes, I find those overwhelming too.
Would you please take a moment to tell me how God’s work has overwhelmed you recently?
